Well… I’m Evan.
I’m 26 and live in Memphis Tn. where I just finished up my bachelor’s at the Univ. of Memphis in Film/Video Production. I work in the Media department at Germantown Baptist Church where I produce the majority of the video and graphic content for Sunday Worship and various events throughout.
I was born in Memphis but grew up in Rogers AR and Texarkana TX where I graduated from Texas High School. My Dad has been a music minister for most of my life, so I grew up doing the church thing and I’m grateful that God gave me awesome parents that are great Christian examples yet loose-gripped and trusting that God will work His will in me to His glory. My dad is now doing media production much like myself at Gracepoint Church in Bentonville AR, and My mom plans weddings for a local chapel there. My sister, Anna Katherine is a student at the Univ. of Arkansas and my brother Joseph is currently looking to go to college for audio recording, and will hopefully begin soon.
There are two dates in my life that used to be really important to me. I remember when I was twelve on Good Friday, lying awake in my bed and deciding it was time to do what I’d seen the rest of my closest friends do. I said a little prayer and asked Jesus to come into my heart. However, the next night I realized that I’d left the whole “forgive me of all my sins” part out. So I prayed again and put all the cliche requests in to God just to make sure I had my bases covered. That sunday I walked the aisle and my dad baptized me the next week. Fast forward 7 years to a revival at my first church in Memphis. On wednesday night I didn’t really listen to the sermon, I just remember a sense of nervousness coming over me during a testimony from my roommate, who accepted Christ the day before. I realized that night that I had not been “living” the Christian life in the last several years. So I decided to get it straight and nail it down that night. That was 2 days before Good Friday and, once again, I walked the aisle and my dad baptized me the next week.
Now, although I still remember these days vividly, I don’t put as much significance in them as I used to. In the past couple of years God’s taught me that He chose me before He created me. He had a plan for me before my parents planned to have me, and He wasn’t going to let any choice of mine get in the way of that. So whatever date it was that I decided to accept this fact doesn’t really matter. What matters is that over a period of time, God has worked in me to make me more like Jesus and continues to do that day to day. It was and is an ongoing of process of justification, sanctification and a few other “ications” that God uses to mold me into who He wants me to be.
I thank the Lord for His overwhelming grace that He shows me minute by minute that allows me to continue serving Him in my short time on this planet. I’ve thought many times about who I would choose if given the chance to live the life of someone else. I can honestly say that there’s no one on earth that I’d rather be because the joy that I receive from Christ is worth more to me than any earthly life can offer.
I’ve created this website as an outlet for sharing the things God is doing in my life as well as display the creativity He has given me as a means of worshipping him. Unfortunately I am unable to offer services for churches, companies, or events. Whether it be for pay or as a favor, I just don’t have time in my schedule to run a business on the side. If you have a specific project that you need ideas for or want to hire out media work, feel free to let me know, but I can’t guarantee that I can always help you. I love hearing about projects or events that involve live production, graphic design or video production. So please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with me.
Thanks,
Evan
